The voice of Benin, a great lady from a small West African country. Angélique Kidjo is now equally at home in Paris and New York. She is a Grammy winner, ambassador for Unicef and Oxfam, and she is still an articulate and fantastic songstress. She’s previously done her thing with Cassandra Wilson, Bill Laswell, Dave Matthews, Alicia Keys, Branford Marsalis, Joss Stone, Peter Gabriel, Amadou & Mariam, Carlos Santana, Ziggy Marley, Amp Fiddler... and recently there were her very catchy and notable Talking Heads and Celia Cruz cover albums. We’re also expecting a new album from her in the spring of 2021, with guest spots for Burna Boy, Mr Eazi, Yemi Alade, WizKid, Shungudzo, GoldLink ...
This is universal fusion music, a must for those who eagerly listen across borders (or happily dance over them).
