BRILLIANT! (If Gilles Peterson says that about Black Flower, so can we)
As of Monday, March 7, 2022, the Covid Safe Ticket and a mouth mask are no longer required in AB. You can enjoy our concerts as before!
Black Flower are at the (provisional) peak of their creative powers. Having received glowing praise (from Mojo and BBC Radio 6 Music's Gilles Peterson) for the 2019 album 'Future Flora', the upcoming album 'Magma' embraces plenty of synth and organ sounds. Led by Brussels-based saxophonist/flute player/composer Nathan Daems (Echoes of Zoo, Dijf Sanders), the quintet continues to bring a vibrant, hypnotic mix of ethiojazz, afrobeat, psychedelia and oriental influences, inspired by Mulatu Astatke, Fela Kuti and diverse Western music traditions.
Nathan Daems – saxophones, kaval, washint
Jon Birdsong – cornet, conch shells
Karel Cuelenaere – keys
Filip Vandebril – bass, bass VI
Simon Segers – drums
