Have your indie-heart warmed by a folk duo from West London

Concert

Debut ‘Islands’, by West London’s Bear’s Den, warmed many an indie-folk heart over the last year and half. Last summer they charmed the audience of Pukkelpop’s Marquee with their melancholy folky songs and in October ’15 they repeated that feat in style at AB.

Andrew Davie and Kevin Jones, pared down to a duo by the departure of Joey Haynes early this year, are currently in the studio for successor ‘Red Earth & Pouring Rain’ (Communion Records 22/07). The new songs were inspired by 70’s and 80’s rock from Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles and Bruce Springsteen, interchanged with contemporary influences from The National and Sufjan Stevens. “Brutally honest, brilliantly realised and spiritually uplifting."

They are often named in the same breath as other folky greats like Mumford & Sons, Fleet Foxes and Ben Howard but after their upcoming visit to Rock Werchter ‘16 it could well be that Bear’s Den completely takes over the poppy-folk torch. Be sure to keep the campfire burning in a no doubt jam-packed AB.
