Adventurous and danceable ‘Saudade’ for a new generation.
ConcertThe sun on your skin, a heart full of longing and rhythms that sweep you away between Brussels, Lisbon and Maputo. In the spring of 2027, Ão returns to AB with one of the most distinctive live shows of the moment.
With their unique blend of electronica, art pop, Afro-pop, saudade and alternative Latin, Ão have emerged in recent years as one of the most exciting bands on the Belgian music scene. Their second album, *Malandra*, marked their definitive breakthrough in 2026, with rave reviews, a sold-out show at Ancienne Belgique, a completely sold-out club tour and more than 80 shows across Europe.
Centred around frontwoman Brenda Corijn, who draws on her Mozambican-Portuguese roots and sings in Portuguese and English, Ão creates a mesmerising universe in which warm melodies, layered electronica and rousing grooves blend effortlessly. Live, the band shifts between fragile intimacy and irresistible danceability, always with that characteristic blend of melancholy and euphoria.
In April 2027, ‘Obra’, a new EP that completes the story of ‘Malandra’, will be released. The first single, ‘Sofrimento’ – a reworking of a track by Waldemar Bastos – showcases how Ão are further deepening their Portuguese, African and electronic influences.
