She started as a busker on the streets of Cape Town, meanwhile Alice Phoebe Lou has moved to Berlin and is believed for her expressive lyrics, dynamic use of styles and genres and authentic songwriting. It has already earned her a nice following, as evidenced by the shows she has already performed at Botanique, La Madeleine and at Rock Werchter. Her latest record ‘Shelter’ shimmers like the dark poetic music of Mitski, Joni Mitchell and Weyes Blood, new single ‘The World Above’ focuses on good-humoured folk-pop with a confident Alice at its centre. The singer and musician still sets her sights on fragile and honest songs, but wants to come out even more purified than ever. And preferably while dancing to nirvana. Alice Phoebe Lou is an intriguing artist not to be missed.
