Powerful Moroccan feminist voice of the next generation
"Aïta Mon Amour" is the name of the project centered around the art of the Aïta, the ancient rural music initially upheld by female singers and custodians of a tradition dating back to the 12th century in Morocco, known as "Chikhates". This art is now transmitted, through this project, by Widad Mjama and Khalil Epi, who aim to rescue this poetry from oblivion and pay tribute to these majestic women, to make the Aïta resonate into the contemporary and digital era
Faithful to the spirit and the strength of the origins, Aïta Mon Amour is a really powerful journey, bringing the strong ‘rebel’ women voices back into the 21st century. It is the authentic feminist voice of the next generation. After the mesmerizing and powerful show during Feeërieën last year, the debut album 'Abda' was digitally released in January 2025.
