A product of the Richmond, Virginia indie scene, Lucy Dacus first came to prominence with the single ‘I Don't Wanna Be Funny Anymore’, taken from her debut album, ‘No Burden’, released in 2016. She impressed with her disarmingly sincere playful songwriting.

In 2018, her second album ‘Historian’ took a more dramatic turn and was also a critical success. That same year, she founded the trio boygenius, with Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers.
