During Belgian Music Week, VI.BE and AB search for solutions to the pressing theme of parenthood in music: Is there room for parenthood in the music sector?
The five-part series, She They Us, offers an unfiltered look at the daily battle against discrimination at the intersection of colour, gender sexuality, religion and class. The series will get an exclusive showing focusing specifically on the episode on parenthood with artist and mother Charlotte Adigéry as the central figure.
This will be followed by an interactive panel talk moderated by Marianne Cattoir with a panel consisting of Selah Sue, Porcelain id and Jarri Van der Haegen (manager of Charlotte Adigéry). Together with the audience, they will look for answers to questions like “Is there a ‘right’ time to start having children? Does the decision to have children always have to feel like giving up our career opportunities? What adjustments are required to make the music business more child-friendly? In short, is there room for parenthood in the sector?”
She They Us is a production of the Ghent production house Cassette for Timescapes and was directed by Zaïde Bil, Sam Peeters and Heleen Declercq.
This event is held in partnership with VI.BE as part of Belgian Music Week.
