After the reunion concerts: John Robb on Oasis and Britpop
On the occasion of John Robb’s book Live Forever: The Rise, Fall and Resurrection of Oasis, British culture journalist Simon Taylor, based in Brussels, will speak with him. Together, they explore the world of Oasis, Britpop, and Manchester.
The book provides an overview of Oasis’s career, the Gallagher brothers, and the influence of Manchester and the British music scene on their work.
At the invitation of AB, Brussels-based British culture journalist Simon Taylor will talk with author John Robb about the book. They will discuss, among other things, the history of Oasis, Britpop, and the role of Manchester in the development of the band.
John Robb has previously published several books on pop culture, including Punk Rock – An Oral History and The Stone Roses and the Resurrection of British Pop. He is a journalist, musician, TV presenter, and singer of the post-punk band The Membranes. In the 1980s, he wrote for fanzines and later for the rock magazine Sounds, and he was the first journalist to interview Nirvana. He coined the term Britpop and documented the Manchester music scene in articles and books.
He also runs the website louderthanwar.com, organizes the annual music and book festival Louder Than Words, and regularly appears on TV and radio as a commentator on music, culture, and politics. His memoirs will be published in 2026 and will be adapted into a film.
