Lander Gyselinck (BE) – aka Dr. Beat since he officially graduated with a Doctor of Arts degree in 2025 – will be our guest next month with no fewer than three different projects!
We already have Dry January, Meat Free May, Stoptober and Movember, but April has so far remained relatively unclaimed. So let’s take the bull by the horns and declare April 2026 Lander Month!
SAT 04 APR BRDCST: KVR feat. Lander Gyselinck x Dries Laheye x Niels Broos presents Spam Vol. 2
KVR (BE/NL) – a nod to the small-scale remuneration scheme, a system for compensating small-scale artistic performances – is the delightful triumvirate of STUFF. members Lander Gyselinck (drums) and Dries Laheye (bass), and Jameszoo keyboardist Niels Broos. With their playful debut Spam Vol. 1 (2023), they created “a mix of electronica, grooves and crisp drums”, according to De Standaard in a **** review. With Spam Vol. 2, they delve further down that path in a way that is sure to please fans of Thundercat, Hudson Mohawke and The Comet Is Coming.
WED 22 APR: Ragini Trio feat. Lander Gyselinck x Nathan Daems x Marco Bardoscia
Ragini Trio is still – as the name suggests – the trio comprising Dr. Beat, Black Flower frontman Nathan Daems and the Italian double bassist Marco Bardoscia, one of Italy’s most sought-after double bassists, known for his work with Paolo Fresu, among others. With their latest album 3, they present – as De Standaard once described it – “Indojazz of the highest calibre.”
Tue 28 Apr: Femke Gyselinck (GRIP) in collaboration with Lander Gyselinck: Figures of Speech
For her new creation, Femke Gyselinck (GRIP) (BE) is joining forces with her brother Lander Gyselinck. They once created a duet together – the performance Flamer (2016) – in which they swapped roles: Femke as drummer and Lander as dancer. This story continues: now they invite seven dancers and four musicians onto the stage, multiplying the strengths of both disciplines. Lander excels in rhythm, Femke in lyricism. Together, as an 11-member ensemble, they find common ground in a blend of structured improvisation and tightly composed pieces.
