They did it again! This past ascension weekend, our AB cyclists tore through the streets during the 1000km for KOTK. This was the 16th time AB took part, now with no fewer than 26 teams, 18 of which were national and 8 international. The international team departed from Orléans.
Facts about our team, 2025 edition:
- 18 national teams made up of 68 men and 12 women
- 8 international teams
- Bas Vlasschaert, the youngest cyclist, is 16, and Wily Vekemans, the oldest, is 80
- Jan Hautekiet had a nasty accident and had to quit
- The new chair of AB, Sioen, cycled along as part of our AB team for one full day. He has previously been part of our teams on multiple occasions
- Wannes Cappelle and Filip Wauters (Zesde Metaal), Klaas Delrue, Jan Paternoster, Eva De Roo and several Studio Brussel staff joined our AB teams for at least one ride
- Our heavyweights Eric Meersmans and Bruno Van Daele also joined in, of course <3

- The 2026 edition of the KOTK 1000 km will take place from 14 to 17 May 2026
We say goodbye to road captain and cycling hero Ludo Dierckxsens ❤. We wish his family and friends all the strength in the world.
A massive thank you to everyone who directly or indirectly participated in this fantastic event. We’ll be back next year, no doubt about it.
(From 4 June, Solidarity Tickets will return as AB’s charity initiative for the next 6 months.)
AB ❤ You!
