Under the banner ’30 years of sensuality’, Axelle Red is all set to celebrate her 30 year career on May 5 at AB. It will indeed be a 'best of' Axelle’s impressive 30 year career.
We already knew that Axelle Red is a blue blooded artist. But did you also already know the following things?
- Axelle Red is not only a talented musician, but she also studied law in Brussels and worked in a law firm for a while. The success of her song "Sensualité" convinced her to dedicate herself to music for 100%.
- ‘Sensualité’ was originally to be titled ‘Sexualité’. Axelle Red had been inspired by the song ‘Sexual Healing’ by Marvin Gaye. In the end she scrapped that plan. “I was mainly thinking about the groove and not about the act. 'Sexualité' sounded maybe a little too bold after all. In the end I settled on 'Sensualité' and went with it.”
- Her artist name is not only a reference to the colour of her hair. It is also a nod to her own character. She chose the name ‘Red’ due to the qualities that are generally associated with the colour, namely ‘fiery’ and ‘feisty’.
- Just like Kate Bush with ‘Running Up That Hill’, the Netflix series Lupin (in which the song ‘Sensualité’ is used) caused a twenty percent increase in streams of the song, and that 28 years after its release! In other words, Sensualité is a classic and remains one of the most popular songs in France.
- Axelle Red doesn’t celebrate her 30th birthday alone, she will appear on stage with an actual orchestra! The famous Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra, which has long been the resident orchestra of Night of the Proms. Axelle Red says this of that: “In the past it was really: ‘veni vidi vici’! See what I can do! Now I just look for as many ways as possible to really share something with the audience, to connect.”’ Not to be missed, buy your ticket now!
