Accidental Meetings resident “warping through dubwise pressure and scuzzy textural realms merged with experimental electronics”
Curated by Accidental Meetings
i-sha (UK) – lower case please – is the resident DJ at the regular club nights run by Accidental Meetings in her hometown of Bristol. There’s no way to listen to her DJ sets on Soundcloud without feeling something. Her mix for FACT Mag – listen to it here – is the perfect example: “warping through dubwise pressure & scuzzy textural realms merged with experimental electronics & off-kilter club tracks.”
“Pushing the boundaries of experimental, dub, jazz and techno” (Kiosk Radio)
Accidental Meetings emerged in Brighton during lockdown, with cassette-only mix releases, and quickly coalesced into a DJ collective, label (with an in-house graphic designer, like any label worth its salt) and promoter of popular club nights.
Their signature sound was described by Kiosk Radio as “pushing the boundaries of experimental, dub, jazz and techno”. We became megafans in 2024 when Accidental Meetings took over the turntables at our adventurous indoor festival BRDCST and delivered an amazing night. Now they’re back for a live DJ takeover.
Brand-new dub hero with a signature sound of calypso & cumbia blended with reggae and left-field dub
Curated by Accidental Meetings
Our newest dub hero is known as Elijah Minnelli (UK). As profound dub lovers, we’re excited to finally see another young artist with a signature sound take centre stage. His style is an eclectic mix of vintage calypso, mento, cumbia and beguine, with a dash of left-field dub and reggae.
A unique (dubby) collaboration between poet/vocalist James Massiah and sound curator Lord Tusk
Curated by Accidental Meetings
Watching James Massiah (UK) & Lord Tusk’s (UK) Boiler Room London set leaves no doubt that they’re a match made in heaven. London-based multidisciplinary artist Lord Tusk is not only a music producer but also a ‘sound curator’ with over 50(!) releases to his name. As we read somewhere, “His music is rugged, raw and at times straight up evil.”
As for James Massiah, he has been received as a poet/vocalist at Tate Modern as well as NTS Radio. Coeval Magazine: “This impulsive and very talented poet has already had more influence on the poetry London scene than you can imagine.”
