Debut album launch by former Rock Rally finalist
Herentals' Sleepers’ Reign was first heard of in ’12 with a solid finals placing in Humo’s famous Rock Rally. Soon after, in ’13, there was the big hit EP ‘Four Dots’ with remarkable Dylan cover ‘Like A Rolling Stone’. Time for their real full debut – that will bear the name ‘King Into Delight’ – that has been abundantly worked on in ’15. Even in this very house, our very own AB studio even, where the band took refuge for a while during the summer with none less than producer Justin Gerrish (see: Vampire Weekend, Strokes, Weezer,…) behind the dials.
The result is pure pop music with an electronic edge, whereby the keyword is escapisme, or so they say. Sleepers’ Reign: “Het album gaat over oprechte zaken die iedereen meemaakt in de trip naar volwassenheid. Jezelf bloot geven, dat poëtisch opschrijven, zonder de zaak op te blazen, dat is het ongeveer.” It has been noted! Don’t shout ‘dream pop’ any more when you hear the name Sleepers’ Reign, but rather ‘pixar-pop’. You can ask about the why of that, yourself, on the night.
