Dancing to infectious French electro-pop
Things really are happening fast for Skip The Use! The electro, punk-rock, disco and pop drenched fivesome released second longplayer ‘Can Be Late’ (gold record in France) upon the world via the renowned Polydor/Universal label. In homeland France they've played to sold-out venues like The Paris Olympia and they won the prestigious ‘Victoire de la Musique’ (French Grammys) for ‘best rock album’ in ’13.
Last year the hype swept over from France through Brussels (Skip The Use played shows in ABclub, Rotonde (Botanique) and at the Brussels Summer Festival ’12) and then on to the coast. “This band might just be the surprise of the festival weekend” was to be read on the Facebook page of the amicable Leffingeleuren festival. “All of France lies at their feet, now it's Belgium's turn!” And yep, Skip The Use, with its charismatic frontman/bouncing-ball l Mat Bastard (what’s in a name…), got the job done in 45 minutes. They had the entire tent in the palm of their hand right from the very first note, and they dragged the crowd along on an energetic dance-trip full of tightly played, vigorous pop-songs that resulted in a further five minutes of ‘we want more’. Faut le faire as unknown band on a now distant Saturday in Leffinge. Gunter Van Assche (De Morgen) wrote the following about that concert: “The surprise of the weekend turned out to be Skip The Use, a French rock band that unites hilarity with hyperkinetics.” & “Dirty, noisy and hot: the French just as we know them!”
Missed out on tickets for the concert at Botanique last year? No stress, here is Skip The Use in the AB's Main Hall!
“Veto specialize in a certain kind of glowering, Depeche Mode-style electro.... And singer/keyboard player Troels Abrahamsen is a surprisingly magnetic focal point.... Denmark’s best kept secret? Go on then.” (NME)
Veto mixes electro with progressive rock (think Friendly Fires, Delphic, Bloc Party) and are soaring new heights with it in their homeland Denmark. Time to win over Europe reckons the fivesome! The new album is soon to be released, in early ’13, via Sony Music and they're raring to present it to you.
