‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’, is the new album from this quartet from Versailles. With verve, Phoenix embroiders further on the warm sound that could also be found on predecessor 'It's Never Been Like That'. There are quite a number of worldwide singles such as ‘Lisztomania’ and ‘1901' on this album too. So, once again, we are confronted with a masterpiece from the French Touch Pop-rock scene (they thrive in the same soil as, say, Air or Daft Punk). If necessary, think of Steely Dan or Death Cab For Cutie but be sure to whistle along with all those other hits: 'Long Distance Call', ‘If I Ever Feel Better’, ‘Consolation Prizes’, ‘Run Run Run’ and all that even though 'Everything Is Everything' also sounded so cheerfully inescapable. Their new world-tour will bring them back the AB once more, this time on a festive Saturday evening at the end of March.
