St. Valentine? www.joehenrylovesyoumadly.com/
Look who we have here!? Joe! Henry! It's from the BelleVue Club in 1996 ago that the AB had the chance to cherish this unique American (in the meantime though he filled the likes of an exuberant Handelsbeurs in Ghent!)
Elvis Costello claimed the following in reference to his more recent Tiny Voices: 'a sharp view of the world and confidential experience collide in a wonderful musical and sonic fabric that is entirely his own.'
The singer-songwriter Joe Henry has already delivered a dozen impressive CDs since 1986, the latest title being: Reverie (still on the attentive ANTI-label). De Morgen wrote of it: 'ambachtelijk vervaardigde, veelal akoestische rootsrock... die het verdient om door een groot publiek ontdekt te worden.' Les Inrocks too: 'acoustique mais caustique, la musique populaire américaine révisitée.'
The comical or contrary Joe Henry also comes up with titles like 'Richard Pryor Addresses A Tearful Nation' and (a personal favourite) 'Ohio Air Show Plane Crash', or even 'Map Of Belgium!'
The producer Joe Henry (recognized with the required Grammy's) is then known for his work for Solomon Burke, Bettye LaVette, Elvis Costello & Allen Toussaint, Ani DiFranco, up to and including Hugh Laurie and Mr Henry himself. In between all that, he's even been known to write a song together with Madonna, at home, at the kitchen table!
Not yet convinced? His website really is called http://www.joehenrylovesyoumadly.com/
