Free, festive and worldly kick-off for the concert season!

Global Street Sounds sounds worldly and streetwise, doing so as of the afternoon, in and around the entire Steenstraat, in and aside the AB.

Global Street Sounds will be a brand new diverse and free of charge party on Sunday 18 September: after the looong vacation, all the senses can be stimulated again, with a unique mix of music, culinary excursions (foodtrucks), activities and attractions... Be sure to save the date and look forward to the entire programme and exact details along with us!

Oo°h yeah, that September 18 is also the third Sunday of the month… so it’s car-free Sunday and also the start of the 2016/2017 season for AB.

What can we reveal now already? Some fine (maybe equally difficult) names: Chouk Bwa Libète, Golden Dawn Arkestra, 47SOUL, Deena Abdelwahed, Gan Gah, Stikstof presents Frontal en al, Sebcat, Daniel Dzidzonu…and many more TBA by curator Gerd De Wilde.

Chouk Bwa Libète
Chouk Bwa Libète is a hot Haitian vodou percussion collective, including vocals & dance and, as of late, they present their Mizik Rasin at the best European festivals. But recordings can still equally compellingly take place in an open ajoupa hut in Petite Rivière Bayonnais, Gonaives, Haiti.

Golden Dawn Arkestra
Golden Dawn Arkestra is a crazy funk soul rock ‘n’ roll phenomenon from the planet Texas. They eagerly refer in every way – name, big band sound and appearance – to the rather legendary Sun Ra but fans of Frank Zappa will also be able to appreciate this passionately orchestrated madness.

47SOUL
47SOUL is a rousing Palestinian ensemble from Bilad-Al-Sham, read: Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan... and are the future of the Arabian debka, read: electro-mejwez, shamstep, choubi choubi... Even those who don’t really understand the words can still nimbly move themselves on to the dancefloor.
