Texan post-rock force serves up 6th album The Wilderness

Concert

Texan post-rock quartet Explosions In The Sky will be breaking the deafening silence that remained after their 5th album ‘Take Care, Take Care, Take Care’ (from 2011) with ‘The Wilderness’ (via quality labels Temporary Residence Limited & Bella Union). With the exception of three exceptional soundtracks for movies with the likes of Mark Wahlberg (‘Lone Survivor’ – ’13) and Al ‘Scarface’ Pacino (‘Manglehorn’ – ’14), the post-rockers from Austin built up to their latest explosive single over five years, the blazing ‘Disintegration Anxiety’.

They shared the producer’s chair with John Congleton (St. Vincent, Spoon, Sigur Rós, Swans) for a first time and he explored with the band “the infinite unknown, utilizing several of the band’s own definitions of “space” (outer space, mental space, physical geography of space) as compositional tools.”

Nine songs that fluently fuse shoegaze, experimental electronica, punk damaged dub, noise and ambient folk… ensuring that EITS continue to rule post-rockland together with bands like Mogwai, Mono, Tortoise, Sigur Rós and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
