‘Imagine folk influenced by the textures of Sunn O))) and Swans’ (The Guardian)
In light of recent developments in the spread of the COVID-19 virus, which is a very fast-moving situation, AB will be closing its doors until May the 3rd.
All concerts until 3rd of May will be suspended, and rescheduled where possible. We have mobilised the entire team and are working hard to find the best solution for each event. Individual concerts may be postponed or cancelled. If a concert is postponed, any tickets purchased will be valid for the rescheduled date. If a concert is cancelled, all tickets will be automatically refunded.
Our favourite quote about Lankum’s ‘The Livelong Day’ (via Rough Trade) simply says: ‘Imagine a folk album influenced by the ambient textures of Sunn O))) and Swans, plus the sonic intensity of Xylouris White and My Bloody Valentine.’’ Spot on, and plucked from The Guardian (that also applied a *****-review to it). Live, Lankum is outright ecstatic. No wonder their UK tour last year pretty much sold out all venues
Kurt Overbergh: ‘I hereby change Lankum’s name to Godspeed You! Folk Emperor.’
For fans of Swans, Harry Smith’s ‘Anthology Of American Folk Music’, Sunn o))), The Dubliners, The Pogues, Jack Rose, Tunng,…
In the press The Guardian: *****
De Standaard: ‘Briljant folkkwartet’ alsook: Traditie wordt pletwals. Het folkkwartet voorziet Ierse traditionals van een industrieel gevoel - het zorgt voor een 21ste-eeuws surplus.’
