Unique Brussels musician launches his new album

We know Brussels resident David Poltrock mostly as an established musician and producer, but also from his many collaborations. He made a series of instrumental compositions under his own name ‘Poltrock’, ranging from intimate and minimal piano pieces via dark and moody ambient soundscapes to energetic electronic club-tracks.

The core is always a rather unique instrumentarium: mechanically modified pianos (the so-called ‘prepared piano’), modular analogue synthesizers, samplers and strings. All the tracks came into being during nocturnal improvisations and jams in 'The Poltrock Palladium', the Brussels studio where Poltrock’s impressive collection of old and contemporary electronica instruments has its own place.
‘Mutes’ will be out on 29 March 2018: the first part of the trilogy ‘Mutes, Moods & Machines’.

David Poltrock (°1974 Poperinge) is a musician situated in Brussels.  He’s a permanent member of the bands De Mens and Hooverphonic, and is a sought-after session musician for the likes of Triggerfinger, Bart Peeters, The Blackbox Revelation, Douglas Firs, Adamo, Bent Van Looy and many more.
Poltrock is also a producer, composer and arranger. In that capacity, he has been responsible for albums and tracks by the likes of Tom Helsen, Arid, Lois Lane, K’s Choice and many more, including two Belgian number 1 hits ‘Home’ (Tom Helsen) and ‘Sadness’ (Stash) too. The album ‘Kompass ohne Norden’ by Berlin rapper Prinz Pi – co-written and produced by Poltrock – achieved gold in Germany.  He also wrote the film music for 'Safety First – The Movie' together with Mario Goossens. He works behind the scenes on talent show ‘The Voice Van Vlaanderen’. First as assistant coach to Jasper Steverlinck for 2 seasons, then for 2 seasons in the team of Bent Van Looy.

Poltrock teaches the subject ‘Soundlab’ (Sound Synthesis and Programming) at PXL Music, the provincial college of Limburg. In 2017 he was offered the cultural ambassadorship of his hometown, Poperinge.
