Icelandic hype scores with R&B/electronica Ă la SOHN and FKA twigs!
A Liveurope concert:
The first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote emerging European music.
It seems as if Sigur RĂłs has been living next door to EmilĂana Torrini for years, as if Kaleo is a cousin of Of Monsters And Men, and Björk is the secret sister of trio KĂŠlan Mikla â thatâs how interconnected the Icelandic music scene is. But what if, in that tiny but genius Icelandic community, there was suddenly a trio that nobody knew? Until recently this would have been thought impossible, but thatâs exactly what happened with Gangly.
Although they hail from fantastic bands like Seabear, Samaris and Oyama, Sindri MĂĄr SigfĂșsson, JĂłfrĂĂ°ur ĂkadĂłttir and Ălfur Alexander Einarsson were secretive about their latest project. That worked well for them: the hype-blogs exploded with speculation about the mysterious identity behind first single âFuck With Someone Elseâ.
Their slow electronic R&B sometimes loiters around the sound of SOHN and FKA twigs, ensconced in a wonderfully romantic and dreamy aroma. Latest single âBlow Outâ, with phenomenal video clip once again, is already a foretaste of an album that is soon to come. Music of the future!  Â
