Swinging tribute to a jazz giant!
Brussels’ Djangofolllies has been paying extensive tribute to one of the greatest swing-jazz guitarists for years now. For our younger readers: we’re talking about Django Reinhardt, a border-crossing Belgian gypsy, or 'manouche' or even 'Roma'.
So there is no better tribute possible than Jazzy Strings, alias those three fathers and three sons.
Jazzy Strings was born from a passion for gipsy jazz and the two jazz giants Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grapelli. The band was established in 1992 by Mario Cavalière, father of violin virtuoso Alexandre Cavalière, and has since appeared at the biggest European festivals (Juan-les-Pins, Nice, Marciac, Samois-sur-Seine, Helsinki). For the Djangofolllies, they invite along their friends Dorado Schmitt & his son Amati and Angelo DeBarre & his son Raangy.
- Dorado Schmitt and son Amati: guitars
- Angelo DeBarre and son Raangy: guitars
- Mario Cavalière and son Alexandre: guitar and violin
- Jean-Louis Rassinfosse: contrabass
- Guest: René de Smaele: trumpet and bugle
