Soul-stirring singer-songwriter with a timeless blend of folk and Americana
This adventurous and very lyrical American singer is back with a new album, Valentine, which she will launch at AB Club after several years away. From her first recordings and her breakthrough with Honest Life (2016) to the Grammy-nominated Old Flowers (2020) and her most recent album Loose Future (2022): Courtney Marie Andrews is consistently lauded as an artist who challenges herself and discovers new intersections between folk and Americana.
Valentine was co-produced by Jerry Bernhardt and recorded almost entirely on tape. The album consists of live performances in the studio, where the emphasis is on performance instead of perfection. “We thought a lot about Lee Hazlewood, about Big Star’s Third and Fleetwood Mac’s Tusk”, says Andrews, and that is clearly audible on the album. Valentine feels elegant, disciplined and balanced, without ever sounding cold, always vulnerable and human.
