Evening with improv-piano and ambient guitar
Born in Rome and living in Brussels, pianist, performer, composer Giovanni di Domenico never stopped broadening his musical horizons after studying jazz piano. Rhythm, harmony and sound are influenced by non-Western cultures and by the many collaborations with other artists. Nate Wooley, Chris Corsano, Arve Henriksen, Jim O'Rourke, Akira Sakata, Tetuzi Akiyama, Okkuyng Lee and Toshimaru Nakamura are just a few names with whom he has shared the stage or made recordings.
Di Domenico is a very prolific artist, releasing an album later this year on Dropa Disc, one with Jim O'Rourke that has just been released on Die Schachtel and a new album of solo piano work on the Black Sweat label which he will present at the AB Salon.
As an opener, we welcome Japanese guitarist Riki Hidaka. In 2021 he released "Okioishi" an album with Eiko Ishibashi and Jim O'Rourke on STEREO RECORDS and earlier this year the wonderful album "Music For 12 Painters, A Calendar And Toru Kuwakubo" as an accompaniment to the expo "A Calendar for Painters Without Time Sense. 12/12" by Toru Kuwakubo at the Chigasaki City Museum of Art, Kanagawa, Japan. With his softly whispering guitar playing, he creates an entirely unique (sound) world.
