Minimal guitarscapes, abstract folk & broken blues…
We know New York guitarist Alan Licht from his collaborations with Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo, the indie bands Love Child and Run On, and the power-improv of Blue Humans. His Japanese counterpart Tetuzi Akiyama, was a part of Keiji Haino’s Nijiumu, worked together with artists like David Sylvian and Oren Ambarchi, and is one of the trendsetters in the adventurous Japanimprov scene.
To mark the release of new album Tomorrow Outside Tomorrow for Editions Mego, Licht and Akiyama head down to Huis 23 and further blur the boundary between rock and experiment.
Urpf Lanze is the alter-ego of Wouter Vanhaelemeesch, manager of the audioMER label and illustrator of epic LP covers for artists and bands like Jozef van Wissem, Jack Rose, Graveyards and Cian Nugent. As Urpf Lanze, armed with a broken guitar and voice, he dives ‘head first’ into a ramshackle dash of folk that you can’t shake off.
