Authentic live hip-hop forged with love, respect, gratitude & emancipation
With a predilection for poetry, literature and influenced by jazz, neo soul, blues and r&b, America’s Akua Naru (born Latanya Hinton) – who currently lives in Cologne – declaims a positive story forged from love, respect, gratitude and emancipation (e(wo)mancipation, actually).
Flanked by a flock of pedigree musicians and with an unbelievable flair, Akua Naru breathes new life into hip-hop as a critical medium & live happening à la The Roots, Erykah Badu & D’Angelo.
‘… The Blackest Joy’, her third longplayer, is planned for the spring of 2018 and the video of forerunner ‘My Mother’s Daughter’ is a visual homage to “black womanhood on the African continent and in the diaspora”.
