This concert moves from the AB Box to the Main Hall to satisfy on the demand for tickets.
Young electronica god who, together with Mount Kimbie, James Blake and Magnetic Man, is pushing the post-dubstep genre into the charts.
SBTRKT (consonants for Subtrakt) is the alias of British producer Aaron Jerome who - prior to signing to Young Turks – has already released tracks and provided remix-work on various labels for the likes of Radiohead, Goldie and Modeselektor. Now he's here with a brand new debut full of detailed beats & bleeps that have been enriched by fine vocal contributions from the likes of Sampha and Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano (listen to the single ‘Wildfire’).
His button & dial technique reminds one of the best of Pantha Du Prince and Flying Lotus and, as a result, he stands his own in the battle to get (post)dubstep into the charts. Indeed, SBTRKT is now giving acts like Magnetic Man and Katy B some stiff competition. Live, it will be Sampha on keyboards & vocals and SBTRKT behind the drum-kit/electronica. A true auditive adventure.
‘A CD that aims simultaneously at dancefloors, headphones and radio playlists … we most willingly park it in our imaginary 2011 end-of-year chart’. (HUMO ***)
Support act for the SBTRKT concert planned on11 October in the AB Box will be English producer Becoming Real. Becoming Real conceals Toby Ridler who is strongly influenced by producers like Wiley and Zomby. His latest ‘Spectre EP’ was released via Not Even, the label that also brought Psychologist to the surface. Musically, he hovers somewhere between dubstep, grime and funky.
