Fresh rock-ân-roll quartet confirms with âLittle Victoriesâ
"De platencollectie van hun grootouders geplunderd en op het podium met de branie van de jonge Animals of Yardbirds. Hun âback to basicsâ-rock had zoveel punch dat we al na drie nummers in de touwen hingen.â (FOCUS KNACK) and âThe Strypes overtuigen met snelle Britpop met puisten op Pukkelpopâ (HET NIEUWSBLAD)
The four Irish spring chickens from The Strypes certainly managed to convince national criticasters at Rock Werchter â14 with their fresh mix of pop, blues and garage-rock. That's where they presented their debut âSnapshotâ (from 2013), which contained the persistent earworm âBlue Collar Janeâ that was played to death for quite a while on many a Belgian radio station. On 24 July 2015, the edgy quartet will put out second longplayer âLittle Victoriesâ and, according to the press release, aside from usual suspects like The Stones, The Jam and Arctic Monkeys there are influences of Elvis Costello, George Clinton and Nick Lowe seeping through in abundance on the new songs.
The newly released songs âNow Sheâs Goneâ and âGet Into Itâ (also the new single to be played plentifully on the turntables of Stubru) certainly do more than have us hoping for the best. âGet ready to meet the real Strypes!âÂ
