Documentary about Brooklyn’s legendary underground studio
With more than 30 years and counting, plus countless big names that recorded there (Sonic Youth, Swans, John Zorn, Fab Five Freddy, Herbie Hancock, ...), the BC Studio is still legendary amongst experimental musicians. Established by Martin Bisi himself in an old factory in Brooklyn, with the support of none less than Brian Eno, who also recorded his album ‘On Land’. The film takes us along to the tale of a dark studio with a rich history and a love for experimental music, whose underground status is threatened by the gentrification of the neighbourhood and the associated trendy Whole Foods supermarket on the other side of the street.
Martin Bisi, founder of BC Studio and talented musician, will hold a Q&A after the film.
