Intimate, impressionist alt-folk brilliance
Minor Pieces is the new collaboration between two unique artists: songwriter/composer Ian William Craig, who we still know from his visit to Feeërieën in 2016 and his concert in AB Salon in 2018, and singer/multi-instrumentalist Missy Donaldson.
Craig’s influence can clearly be heard but while he creates very soundscapey compositions solo, here it is the songs that are the focal point.
Their just recently released album ‘The Heavy Steps Of Dreaming’ (out on the impressive FatCat Records) is a fine, coherent collection of intimate, impressionistic alt-folk gems in which we can hear influences of Grouper, Low or Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy but also the (tape-)experiments of William Basinski or Fennesz.
