When bands like Blink-182, Sum 41, Yellowcard, Fall Out Boy, New Found Glory and Simple Plan ruled the roost in the American rock charts, after the turn of the century, they always had to box up against the Madden twins… Good Charlotte strung up the hits (‘Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous’, ‘The Anthem’, ‘Girls & Boys’, ‘I Just Wanna Live’) like there was no tomorrow but disappeared from the scene – just like all the other pop-punk partners in crime – partly due to disappointing fifth longplayer ‘Cardiology’ from 2010.
And right when pop-punk experiences a serious rekindling, with fresh verse albums and sold-out venues by Green Day, Blink-182, Sum 41, Simple Plan, Fall Out Boy, … Good Charlotte returns too, with ‘Youth Authority’ – once again produced by veteran & legend in the genre John Feldmann (Panic! at the Disco, Story Of The Year, Papa Roach, Blink-182). Pop-punk is totally back, peeps. Just deal with it and get stupid!
SLEEPING WITH SIRENS
Poppy emo & metalcore fivesome from Florida. Swapped labels for their latest issue ‘Madness’, from Rise Records to the legendary Epitaph Records of Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz, where they now hang out in the very good company of Architects, A Day To Remember, Everytime I Die and Parkway Drive, et al. Poster boy and frontman Kellin Quinn is to be found in the ranks, he who is the secret weapon and beating heart of Sleeping With Sirens, with his characteristic falsetto.
