Legendary duo back for the first time since 2011
Following the searing solo-set by Tom Carter in AB Salon (2016), Charalambides – his acclaimed duo with Christina Carter – will now play a series of European concerts for the first time since 2011, all to promote their superb new release ‘Charalambides: Tom and Christina Carter’ via Drawing Room.
Extending to the extremes of acid-folk, psych-rock and improv, Charalambides’ music is still highly personal and remarkably consistent. Despite the fruitful solo-careers and other projects Tom and Christina Carter have going on, Charalambides has now been around for more than 25 years. They have thereby effortlessly survived the pigeonholes into which journalists and criticasters have been trying to place them for years now. Going on the most recent recordings and concerts, musically, Charalambides doesn’t seem to have lost any of its directness or subcutaneous imminence (even if they do like to let themselves be led by the musical telepathy that they’ve developed over all those years).
On ‘Charalambides: Tom & Christina Carter’, the very aptly titled new release from Drawing Room, the duo fathoms even deeper into the psyche of their music. Recorded in two sessions, without overdubs, they fuse their familiar musical approach into a raw, delicate, wordless and hypnotic whole. So this is Charalambides at its very best, as will become apparent during the duo’s first European tour since 2011. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this unique duo at work live.
