The definitive biography of legendary band Can launched in AB

All Gates Open is the definitive tale of one of the most influential bands of the 20th century: Can.
On the basis of many stories, image & audio material, author Rob Young (The Wire, The Guardian, Uncut, ...) comes to present his book in AB Salon.
This book is the final biography of the band came into being at the end of the sixties in the vanguard of the Krautrock scene. The albums and live shows by the band from Cologne left a deep impression in the decade that followed and their legacy still resonates in contemporary hip-hop, post-rock, ambient and countless other genres. Rob Young’s tale is based upon unique interviews with the founding members of Can, the various vocalists and the band’s entourage.

All Gates Open is a portrait of a band that worked with visionary intensity and belief, outside the system and inside their own inner cosmos.

In the press: ‘this book will sit comfortably on either the syllabus on a degree course or on the armchair of a music fan and it is in that balancing act where Young and Schmidt truly give respect and due honour to the subject matter making this not only one of the essential books of this year but one for many years to come.’ Louder Than War
