‘Maybe Not Tonight’: Lime Garden’s most intoxicating and daring album to date
Every Lime Garden release confirms their status as the ones to watch right now. Supported by icons like Johnny Marr (The Smiths) and Hayley Williams (Paramore), the four from Brighton show us time and time again what they are capable of.
Their second album, Maybe Not Tonight, is an uninhibited ode to the nightlife: a feverish journey through the highs and lows of a night out, in which new impulses determine the direction.
Thanks to producers Charlie Andrew (known from Wolf Alice and alt-J) and (drummer) Annabel Whittle, the album sounds more intense and daring than ever. Glitchy vocal samples, hypnotic drums, garage rock guitars and detuned synths fuse into a compelling, layered live sound.
In the words of guitarist Leila Deeley: “Being bolder and not shying away from our experiences, that’s what this album sounds like to us. It’s a real statement. Listening to it should feel like a big punch in the face!”
