Warning: this is an interview, not a concert!
Interview with: Colin Stetson
He's a part of the Arcade Fire live band and can also be heard in their latest short-film ‘Scenes From The Suburbs’ (by Spike Jonze). Last year he opened in Europe for his buddies from Godspeed You! Black Emperor (who also released his album via Constellation Records). In ’11, he was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize or: the prestigious prize for the best Canadian album. He already played previously with and/or can be heard on albums by Feist, Bon Iver, Tom Waits, TV On The Radio, David Byrne, LCD Soundsytem and The National. Basically: Colin Stetson is much loved in professional musical circles.
His latest album, from ‘11, ‘New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges’ - with collaboration by the likes of Laurie Anderson and Brightest Diamond – certainly received an excellent 8.2 rating on Pitchfork. Stetson is a master of circular breathing and the way he plays tenor sax reminds one of grandmasters like Evan Parker, Peter Brötzmann and Anthony Braxton. Stetson is also a part of Bon Iver's live band, which makes him hard to get.
A few hours before his concert at the AB Club Colin Stetson will give an exclusive ‘en publique’ interview taken by Belgian radio maker Jan Hautekiet.
