CODES NIGHT CURATED BY VISIONIST
Hannibal (The A-Team) always said ‘I love it when a plan comes together’. That’s how we felt too when Visionist said ‘yes’ to our proposal of curating one evening of the Feeërieën. The focus will be on his very own CODES label, which he runs together with Bill Kouligas, head honcho at Berlin’s electronica label PAN (see: M.E.S.H., Rashad Becker,…).
KAMIXLO (uk/dj)
Arca and Lotic-fans: unite! This Kamixlo effortlessly convinced us with his EP ‘Demonico’ on Codes, and ‘Paleta’ was even one of last year’s most exciting tracks. Kamixlo – instantly recognizable by his blue hair – has Chilean roots, grew up in London’s Brixton and ensures a glorious ‘grungy, distorted reggaeton’. Or as he words it: ‘The music I enjoy makes you feel like you’re dying’.
VISIONIST (uk/new live show)
London producer and PAN-recording artist Visionist – aka Louis Carnell –catapults us literally into the musical future. With his meticulous, apocalyptical and sinister electronica he most definitely belongs to the visionary sounding club of electronica magicians à la Holly Herndon and Arca. Best tangible evidence: his debut ‘Safe’ that landed in many a Best Of … in ’15.
ACRE (uk/dj)
Acre (not to be confused with Björk’s close friend Arca) had the honour of being the first to drop a release on Visionist’s Codes label. This producer – who hails from Manchester – deals in what he calls ‘8-bit grime, warehouse rave, and dark bass with hyper-modern sound design and bastard club rhythms.’ He has already previously released albums on Tectonic, the label of dubstep producer Pinch.
SKY H1 (b)
Entirely homegrown: SKY H1, an exceptionally talented young musician who has effortlessly joined the ranks of Belgium’s current best in terms of fascinating electronica. Her debut EP ‘Fluid’ was released via Berlin label Creamcake and her sound bobs around musically between ‘R&B and instrumental grime to ambient’.
