Lisa Ekdahl is an alluring singer. Swedish and blond and apparently fragile, but when she sings you will listen! Her repertoire consists of indestructible jazz and bossa nova standards, as well as elegant own compositions within those genres. She sings in both Swedish and English, she's even successful in France and apparently she also has 3 Grammies glittering away at home! Subtle and sensual are the keywords here, certainly not loud and loutish. Or also: 'understated' and 'laid-back', but never lifeless. After about 10 CD's, the wittily sophisticated Lisa Ekdahl has clearly succeeded in always sounding radiant without brutal effects.
