Punk 50: Celebrating 50 years of punk
AFTER 50 YEARS OF DISSENT, WE CELEBRATE PUNK IN CHAOS AND SOLIDARITY
THE ADULTS AND THEIR WORLDTRADE FANTASIES ARE STILL POISONING THE CLOUDS OF UTOPIA.
THE KIDS ARE DESPERATE AND ANGRY AS BUREAUCRATIC EXCUSES ARE NOW FUELING GENOCIDE AS WELL. YES GENOCIDE.
IN THE MIDST OF THIS SHIT, THE KIDS STILL UNITE IN POSTURE, WRITINGS AND MUSIC AGAINST EVERYTHING THEY WON’T BE.
AFTER 50 YEARS OF DISSENT, WE CELEBRATE PUNK IN CHAOS, WHERE IMAGINATION TURNS INTO UNPREDICTABILITY, AND UNPREDICTABILITY INTO THE POWER TO COUNTERMOVE WHAT’S COMING.
SO FCKOFF!
50 years of punk means 50 years of resistance against an elitist power structure that makes exclusive choices. On January 24, we gather at Ancienne Belgique, because now more than ever it’s time to kick against the system. With your contribution, you stand in solidarity and support the Warm Bed collective!
In today’s hypercapitalism, politics often seem tailored to those who have money — and therefore power. The polarization of minority groups is being used as a political weapon: a convenient way to point out a scapegoat and distract us from the real issue.
When Ancienne Belgique asked us to celebrate 50 years of punk, we immediately knew: this can’t be a nostalgic party, but must be a contemporary statement! A statement showing why our disgust toward the power system remains at the very core of what resonates — in the music we play, the clothes we wear, and the attitude we embody.
This event will be punk — not because punk bands are playing, and certainly not because it’s happening at AB, but because we’re expressing ourselves in the lion’s den, visible to everyone in the mainstream. Right there, we’ll show that our artistic freedom as a counter-movement against a cold, exclusive, and aggressive state is unbreakable.
All proceeds — entrance by free donation, food sales, and the Bomber Hoodies made for this event — go entirely to the Warm Bed collective. This is a group of Sudanese people who lived on the streets for years and temporarily found shelter in an empty building. They now risk homelessness again due to an unexpected €17,000 debt. Through this event and the Bomber Hoodie, we want to support them and show solidarity. Punk is solidarity. Punk is action. Punk is now!
More information about the line up will follow.
