The future of authentic soul, funk & gospel is assured!
A Liveurope concert:
The first pan-European initiative supporting concert venues in their efforts to promote emerging European music.
“Amazing stuff” crowed Londoner Samm Henshaw after every song of his concert at Groningen’s showcase festival Eurosonic ‘16. He was right too! The assembled audience was able to sate itself upon an old school soul & gospel blessed, funny young Brit with a fantastic throat that produces a sound somewhere between Otis Redding and John Legend. Henshaw learned the ropes (he’s adept at both guitar and piano) in his father’s church. Add to that the influence of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and more recently Frank Ocean, D’Angelo and Lauryn Hill and you get a wonderful mishmash of very enjoyable soul, funk and pop on Henshaw’s brand new EP ‘The Sound Experiment II’.
He kicked off Rock Werchter this summer with his support band The Sound Experiment and, later in the year, he’ll be bringing that brood of old friends back with him to Brussels. The future of authentic soul, funk and gospel is definitely guaranteed!
