Pour ce concert complet, un guichet d'écnage est prévu entre 18h30 et 20h. L'objectif est de permettre aux gens à la recherche d'un ticket d'entrer en contact avec ceux qui en auraient à revendre. Le successeur de ‘The ’59 Sound’, le célèbre premier album de The Gaslight Anthem, est dans les bacs depuis le 18 juin et répond au nom de ‘American Slang’. Leur concert à Rock Werchter cet été a été l’occasion de le présenter à une foule de nouveaux fans. Pour ceux qui chercheraient des références à leur rock'n roll intemporel, nous pouvons leur suggérer quelques pointures du genre Social Distortion, The Replacements ou Bruce Springsteen. Ce dernier est d’ailleurs l’un de leurs plus grands fans. Le Boss s'est en effet pointé sur scène lors de leur concert à Glastonbury, l’année dernière, pour offrir une version bien rodée de ‘The ’59 Sound’.

On connaît bien évidemment Chuck Ragan en tant que leader de la formation punk Hot Water Music. Sous son propre nom, il donne dans le folk up-tempo clairement imprégné par l'esprit punk. Son dernier album en date, paru sur le label Side One Dummy, s'intitule ‘Gold Country’ . Musicalement, on pense à Frank Turner avec qui il a d'ailleurs largement tourné au Royaume-Uni. D'après les rumeurs, Ragan serait actuellement en train de composer de nouveaux morceaux en compagnie de Brian Fallon, le frontman de Gaslight Anthem.

En première partie, nous accueillerons les Britanniques de Sharks, un groupe de rock qui trempe dans le punk pur souche.

These songs are simple, mostly, but they're executed perfectly. Fallon and guitarist Alex Rosamilia do this thing, mostly on the quiet bits, where their guitars wrap twinkly harmonies around each other, getting loose and intricate without being showy about it. And when the guitars turn into chorus-firepower, it just kills because it's been so long since we've heard anyone pull that off with such panache. If you've got even a tiny bit of a soft spot for that bruised-growl retro-punk, THE ’59 SOUND is an answer to a prayer.
