Artist Talk cancelled!
BRDCST is AB’s brand new indoor spring festival, one whereby we focus on musical limitlessness. The name is a direct reference to the retro futuristic electronica-pop of English band Broadcast, which released inspiring albums like ‘Haha Sound’ and ‘Noise Made By The People’ over the past decade. Artists who feel strongly about musical innovation will form the focal point for BRDCST.
WONDER TALK
The first edition of BRDCST has not even taken place and yet a tradition (#2) has also already been born! Namely, each day we will be totally engrossed in ‘a moment of wonder’ that we share with our visitors. We will invite artists, authors or music insiders for a chat to enlighten us about items that were inspirational while putting together our ideal line-up. Our admiration just has to be shared.
STEVE IGNORANT
For the first Wonder Talk of BRDCST, Steve Ignorant comes to chat about his life before, during and after Crass.
Ignorant is often – and rightly – considered to be the godfather of punk. He was also the one to, together with kindred spirit Penny Rimbaud, establish the extremely influential DIY anarcho-punk band Crass. It existed from 1977 to 1984 and released classics like ‘Stations Of The Crass’, ‘The Feeding Of The 5000’ and ‘Christ The Album’. Their music was uncompromising and anarchistic but always extremely well thought out. As a result, their albums still sound fiercely relevant.
His biography ‘The Rest Is Propaganda’ was published in 2010, but is no longer to be found. Or is it? But then you’d pay at least £100 for it. Or maybe even more: we found a seller on eBay who brazenly asks US$300. Very un-punk, and so Steve Ignorant decided to start a publishing house himself - Dimlo Productions – and will reissue the book in 2016.
Conversation will be guided by Kurt Overbergh, AB’s artistic director. He will receive assistance from Cocaine Piss frontwoman Aurélie Poppins.
Admittance is free of charge and without registration but seats are limited, so be here on time!
