Originaire d'Atlanta, ce trio engagé nous assène un mélange singulier de gospel, de rap, de soul, de free jazz, de noise rock, de post-punk, de beats industriels et de guitares apocalyptiques, à coups de textes aux relents politiques et sociaux, produits par le charismatique frontman Franklin James Fisher. Avec son premier album éponyme (sorti en juin ’15 chez Matador), Algiers démontre que le rock et la pop peuvent encore se révéler intellectuellement provocants et diablement passionnants, tout en servant la critique sociale.
