Michael David Quattlebaum Jr. identifies more with the feminist punk movement Riot Grrrl, but as Mykki Blanco – and together with the likes of Azealia Banks, Angel Haze, Le1F and Zebra Katz – he was propelled to figurehead of the LGBT - (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) hiphop scene that has been flourishing for several years now.

His latest project/compilation ‘C-ORE’ , the first release on Blanco’s brand new underground label Dogfood Music Group, harbours collaborations with labelmates Yves Tumor, PsychoEgyptian and Violence and is bursting with slightly crazy hip-hop intertwined with dark electronica, hard industrial beats, punk, grime and noise.

C-ORE as perfect reflection of how a rapper/poet/activist and performance artist like Blanco deals with life as a multigender in the margins of the American music landscape, and of his vision on hip-hop and music tout court. “People all over the world are only fed this singular image of 'African American Music’, and we want to disrupt that. We all come from backgrounds outside of the black American norm, and the world deserves to see our culture as much as anything else.”
