New Beginnings: Celebrating Resurgence
This event is FREE, no need to book. Â
Black History Month Belgium and AB are once again joining forces for a new edition of BHM. This year, the theme is âNew Beginnings: Celebrating Resurgenceâ. With this in mind, we are organising the official BHM launch party for all of Belgium - a large-scale musical celebration in the heart of Brussels for the entire community!
LINE-UP:
Miss Angel
If you put together old school hip hop, UK grime and high energy, you get? Miss Angel! The Belgian phenomenon from Antwerp is without a doubt the most exciting female MC, performer and artist in Belgiumâs rap game. Being surrounded by hip-hop music while growing up, Miss Angel debuted her career when she started to write her own verses and found her lyrical voice. Miss Angel is conquering the local music scene in no time with her unteachable charisma, unique sense of style and unapologetic pen.
ONHA
LiĂšge rapper ONHA is a complete artist with many facets. His husky, ethereal voice is set over smooth and electric productions. Somewhere between vaporous soul and incendiary trap, his music is the synthesis of his collaboration with producer/musicians ROCCO and DumB.
He'll be releasing in March 2023 a very first opus entitled 'OPALE', a compendium of his musical universe in which he intends to take things to the next level while revealing an even more intimate side of himself.
MAVEE
MAVEE, the 23-year-old Belgian-Cameroonian artist, hails from the vibrant city of Brussels. Born and raised in this diverse cultural hub, MAVEE's artistic journey began with a passion for dance, but it was her sister's encouragement that unveiled her hidden talent for singing.
Since 2017 MAVEE has been diligently crafting new music while gracing the stages of numerous venues across Belgium. Her previous singles, "I Knowâ ,âCanât Have Meâ and âI Wishâ exemplify her exceptional vocal range and songwriting skills, seamlessly blending her signature soulful synthpop and R&B sound with heartfelt lyrics.
Despite her young age, MAVEE's extraordinary talent, unwavering dedication, and relentless work ethic have already earned her recognition and respect within the music industry. As she continues to hone her craft and explore new musical horizons, there's no doubt that MAVEE is on a trajectory toward even greater success.
Zedie
Zedie is a Belgian-Nigerian singer, songwriter and composer born in Brussels. Originally from the Epie-Atissa people of southern Nigeria, Zedie's first name means "wait, and you'll see".Â
His music blends diverse influences, bringing together French variety, electro and pop to create a hybrid universe as sensitive as it is vibrant. From his teenage bedroom, he writes lyrics that reflect his melancholy, tells his fallen loves, explores his identity.
Zedie captivates the audience with his crystalline voice, and surprises us with catchy rhythms, moving and enchanting us all.
Kipili
A soft, melodious voice, piercing eyes and a luminous, solar beauty: these are the ingredients that define Kipili. With mysterious lyrics and melodies, and heady electronic music, Kipili draws us into her strong, dense universe. She sings simple, spellbinding pop. She's a charismatic character with a wide range of influences, and you can hear it!
Ballet Inyange
Ballet Inyange is a traditional Rwandan dance and music group based in Brussels. Founded in 1994, the group is a melting pot of different generations of dancers, singers and musicians. Its shows explore the Rwandan cultural heritage, giving free rein to the musical and poetic expression of its members, all of whom are amateurs.
