DESCRIPTION:Seasick Steve - I Started Out With Nothin' and I Still\nGot Most of It Left Beluister/koop hier!    ‘I Started Out\nWith Nothing And I Still Got Most Of It Left’\, zo heet\nhet nieuwe album van de indrukwekkende verschijning genaamd\nSeasick Steve. Met recent veel lof in De Morgen (****\n‘Seasick Steve heeft naast elf uitstekende songs datgene\nwaarmee hij het verschil maakt op het gros van zijn\ncollega's: authenticiteit’) en HUMO (***½  SEASICK\nSTEVE - Sizzle Reel) en was ook nog eens CD van de week in\nDe Standaard. In de studio kreeg hij de hulp van muzikanten\nvan uiteenlopend pluimage: Nick Cave en enkele Grinderman\ncohorten maar even goed KT Tunstall doet mee. Seasick Steve\nis het echte werk. Deze haveloze zwerver leefde tot voor\nkort nog op straat\, waar hij al sinds z’n veertiende het\nechte leven leert kennen. Deze hobo (de Amerikaanse term\nvoor op vrachttreinen rondtrekkende daklozen) maakte in de\nachterbuurten kennis met de blues. Seasick Steve’s\nprimitieve versie ervan leerde hij in de band van\nLightnin’ Hopkins. Sinds hij optrad in de nieuwjaarseditie\nvan Jools Holland is Seasick Steve een graag gezien gast op\nfestivals en mochten we hem al in een uitverkochte ABBox\n(21.01.08) verwelkomen. De fans van Seasick Steve hebben de\nvolledige Fat Possum catalogus in hun platenkast (The Black\nKeys\, R.L. Burnside\, Bob Log III) maar zijn eveneens zot\nvan àlles van The White Stripes.    Support wordt de Britse\nchanteuse noir Gemma Ray. Ziehier wat de pers te zeggen\nheeft over haar album 'The Leader':     'With\nnoir-ish hints of Lee Hazlewood’s unearthly country-rock\,\nRay sits midway between Nina Simone and Isobel Campbell\,\nand is the better for it' (MOJO). 'Imagine Norah\nJones on Amy Winehouse’s drugs' (Q). 'Few (girl\nsingers) are as raw and honest\, she weaves an entrancing\ntapestry of Soul and Blues\, full of dark themes and\nlate-night confessions all presented in a sultry seductive\nvoice'.
