DESCRIPTION:Dan Auerbach maakt samen met compagnon Patrick Carney THE\nBLACK KEYS. Ze leverden sinds 2002 vijf prima albums af\nwaarvan het recentste ‘Attack & Release’ in een\nproduktie van Gnarls Barkley brein Danger Mouse. ‘Een goed\nalbum’\, wist HUMO te schrijven\, ‘maar deze week komt\ner een betere uit en Keys-voorman Dan Auerbach heeft ze\nhelemaal alleen gemaakt’. Op dat eerste solo album ‘Keep\nIt Hid’ verlaat Auerbach maar net de door Black Keys\nbewandelde paden maar weet wel warme flarden gospel en\nbluegrass binnen te loodsen in de rollende\, bij wijlen aan\nLink Wray schatplichtige boogie. Deze Brit van Maltese en Egyptische afkomst werd\nontdekt door Billy Childish en in de charmante Toe Rag\nStudio vereeuwigde producer Liam Watson (White Stripes\,\nHolly Golightly) op sublieme wijze zijn bitterzoete stem en\neenvoudige liedjes. ‘A Virtual Landslide’ is zondermeer\nonze favoriete zondagochtendplaat van de voorbije maanden en\nduidelijk ook die van de pers: eindigde op de 18e plaats in\nMojo’s Best Albums of 2008. Of ook ‘The soul of American\nmusic distilled into the voice of a Cuban-heeled greaser\nfrom the Medway Delta’ volgens The Guardian. Time Out had\nhet over ‘Young\, finger-picking\, country-blues marvel\nMolinari has a thrillingly ambiguous voice’ en NME\nblokletterde: ‘Sweet-voiced blues-folk’.
