Introduction par Karl Hyde.  \n      D'une durée de 70 minutes et couvrant le tracé\npériurbain qui rejoint l'Essex-Nord à la Tamise\, le\nfilm The Outer Edges commente le trajet qui suit le cours de\nla rivière Roding\, de sa source à son point de confluence\nà Barking Creek\, en allant de la zone de développement de\nThames Gateway jusqu'à Tilbury\, l'avant-port de\nLondres.    S'arrêtant dans divers lotissements\, clubs\nde boxe\, marchés hebdomadaires et clubs d'ouvriers\,\nle film célèbre l'énergie positive et l'attitude\ndes gens qui vivent et travaillent à l'intérieur des\nfrontières invisibles de Londres - ces frontières qui ne\nsont répertoriées sur aucune carte et que Hyde a\ntraversées chaque jour pour enregistrer Edgeland\, son\npremier album solo.          Hyde à propos de The Outer\nEdges :    “The film is an extension of the journey that\nEdgeland takes\, one inspired by the positive vibes spread\nby the Olympic volunteers. And it’s about remembering what\nit was like when Rick and I first moved to Romford - the\nwelcome we received\, the feeling of belonging to a tribe\nthat was always positive no matter what the political\,\neconomic or natural climate; a tribe that always had an\nanswer to every problem. The search for that energy led us\nto the zone where the city crumbles into fields. It’s a\nplace that's too often forgotten\, one that rarely makes\nthe news and never appears in travel brochures. Yet it’s\nsomewhere that important history was made and where a rich\nand vibrant spirit is still alive. I felt it was time to\nremind myself of it.”         Influencé par des films\npsycho-géographiques fascinants comme Robinson in Space de\nPatrick Keiller ou Gallivant d'Andrew Kotting\, The\nOuter Edges est construit à partir d'une série\nd'instantanés visuellement saisissants qui explorent\nles histoires et les souvenirs de personnages réels\,\nrencontrés en cours de route. Monté sur une bande-son\nfaite de titres de Karl Hyde spécialement retravaillés\npour l'occasion\, The Outer Edges offre une plongée\nfascinante dans la vie telle qu'elle est menée en\nbordure de Londres.         Kieran Evans est un réalisateur\nde documentaires et de fictions. Salué par la critique\,\nson premier long métrage Kelly + Victor - adapté du roman\nde Niall Griffiths – devrait encore sortir au cinéma\ncette année après avoir été montré en avant-première\nl'automne dernier au London Film Festival 2012. La\npremière US du film a eu lieu dernièrement au SXSW Film\nFestival.    Parmi les œuvres antérieures de Kieran\, on\ndénombre notamment Finisterre\, un film emblématique sur\nLondres qu'il a coréalisé avec Paul Kelly (et qui\ndevrait resortir cet été à l'occasion de son 10e\nanniversaire). Il a également signé d'autres\ndocumentaires sur des artistes comme Vashti Bunyan (From\nHere to Before) et Manic Street Preachers (Culture\,\nAlienation\, Boredom and Despair).         Evans à propos\nde The Outer Edges :    “The Outer Edges began and ended\nwith a series of long walks coursing river routes and\nmotorway lanes along the edge of London yet stuck to a path\nthat always kept the city at arms length. On each of these\njourneys\, we saw extraordinary spaces in a state of flux\nand change that felt like a world away from the city on the\nhorizon. The people we met along the way seemed to frame the\nplaces we passed through and gave it a character all of its\nown. With that in mind\, The Outer Edges is a film not about\na set geographical route\, it's more about the people\nwho showed us the way.”         La projection est\nréservée aux détenteurs d'un ticket pour le concert\nde Karl Hyde prévu le même soir.
