Ces deux\ndernières exclamations font par ailleurs référence aux\ntitres de leurs deux très bons albums. Carolina Chocolate\nDrops est un trio afro-américain dont vous connaissez sans\ndoute le très original single 'Hit 'Em Up\nStyle'. Derrière l'appétissant patronyme du\ngroupe\, se cachent Dom Flemons (principalement à la\nguitare)\, Rhiannon Giddens (essentiellement au banjo) et\nJustin Robinson (principalement au violon). Le trio change\ncependant d'instruments avec une incroyable aisance\nquand il n’y ajoute pas du chant ou de sympathiques\npercussions (utilisant au besoin des ‘bones’ ou un\n'computer hard drive triangle').Aussi agréable\nqu’instructif ! Même le packaging\, avec ses couleurs\nd'avant-guerre\, a l'air authentique. Le livret\ncontient un florilège d'explications sur les anciennes\nchansons qu'ils sont allés dénicher. Alan Lomax aurait\ncertainement beaucoup apprécié et on en dira probablement\nautant du public de Dranouter\, cet été ! 'Genuine\nNegro Jig' est sorti sur le label Nonesuch (via Warner)\net a été produit par Joe Henry. De Standaard a écrit : «\n3/4... franc comme l'or... classe. ». Ou encore Les\nInrocks : « Rétro mais pas trop ». Top roots!    20h00 -\nRYAN BINGHAM & THE DEAD HORSES    Du country rock de\nhaut vol à la sauce americana ! Avec 'Junky Star'\,\n Ryan Bingham en est déjà à son troisième opus. Paru sur\nle label Lost Highway et distribué par Universal\, ce\ndernier a été produit par le toujours aussi précis T Bone\nBurnett. Les cinéphiles connaissent Ryan Bingham pour avoir\ninterprété la chanson titre du film 'Crazy Heart'\n(le remarquable film country avec Jeff Bridges). Cette\nchanson\, 'The Weary Kind'\, également produite par\nT Bone Burnett\, a même décroché un Oscar.    On parle\ndésormais de Ryan Bingham & The Dead Horses (à noter\,\npour l’anecdote\, que Ryan Bingham a apparemment été\ncow-boy de rodéo dans une vie antérieure !). Le magazine\nbritannique Uncut a dit de 'Junky Star' :\n'...songs that veer from rainy-day Dylan to Steve Earle\nand the border-town blues of Terry Allen.' Et le\nmagazine Q de rajouter\, avec pertinence : 'With the\nworn\, leathery tones and skewed romanticism of an ageing\ndrifter who's seen only hard times\, he's anything\nbut starry-eyed on this dour collection of no-frills\nAmericana'. Il en va ainsi ! Et en l’absence de The\nFelice et The Avett Brothers\, nous sommes tout aussi\nhonorés d’accueillir les chansons âpres et rugueuses de\nRyan Bingham et de ses Dead Horses !
