Solidarity. Support. Optimism. That is what LIVE2020 stands for. The solidarity fund wants to collect money to offer some perspective to the live music industry. Because it’s unplugged . Literally.
All has been quiet in the music clubs, cultural centres and concert venues since mid-March. All cultural events were banned, to prevent the spread of the corona virus. There are no summer festivals either this year. The damage is done and it’s an enormous amount. The once thriving live music industry is bleeding dry. Artists, backliners, technicians, concert- and festival-organisers, stage builders, booking agents, marketeers, managers, caterers, merchandisers, venue managers, ticketing companies, stagehands, and so many others are experiencing unprecedented income and turnover losses.
LIVE2020 is not an alternative for the current and future government measures for support. These are – and will remain – essential. The fund mainly wants to be supplementary, to make an extra contribution where needed. To colleagues who have been severely affected by the current crisis and struggling financially. To the sector itself by supporting recovery initiatives. LIVE2020 gives that extra boost. So that live music can return to small and large stages under the best and safest circumstances possible, indoors and outdoors. So that, together, we can once again enjoy that unique and unforgettable experience that concerts and festivals are. You can support LIVE2020 by making a donation, by organising a solidarity activity, or by taking part in one of the activities that have been bundled into the initiative under the motto #unitedforlivemusic.
